Monday Night Jazz Jams at The Blue Room (7pm - 10pm)

Located in the Historic 18th and Vine Jazz District and hosted by a different local musician weekly, this jazz jam is open to ALL ages and skill levels. Always a great and appreciative audience there to support you.
The last Monday of the month is typically reserved for a big band performance (check the schedule).
Monday Night Jazz Jam at The Piano Room

Ted’s Taproom in the Crossroads hosts a Jazz Jam on Tuesday evening. The sessions are hosted by one of KC’s top jazz musician’s. We will try to keep our calendar up to date but check the schedule at Ted’s Taproom just to be sure. Also, be sure to check Ted’s Taproom out on other nights. They are hosting great music and have excellent sound and atmosphere.

New Jazz Order is a high-energy weekly big band jam session and creative laboratory for musicians. This is a space bursting with experimentation, mentorship, and the living evolution of the Kansas City sound. No polishing. No perfection. Just real music, built in real time, by real artists. Robert Tribitt III is a Kansas City, MO musician. This is where he met and preformed with Sean Tyler, Tech Nine, and Lynda Randle. He has toured all over, including Finland, Norway, the Caribbean Islands as well as the Cayman Island. He hosts events all around Kansas City. Catch him every Tuesday as he performs a variety of genres and showcases some of Kansas City's top musical talents at our open jam session.

This tradition dates back to the 1930s, when musicians, after finishing their regular gigs, would gather to play into the early morning hours. Noon on Saturdays at Rock Island Bridge - Open Jam with Legerdemain

The Rock Island Open Jam with Legerdemain takes over the bridge every Saturday from 12 to 3 PM. Legerdemain is a Kansas City steel pan led fusion group with deep jazz roots, writing and arranging original music that pulls from styles all over the world. The core quartet brings Marcus Rattler on drums and amplified steel pan, Daniel Yung on cello and keys, Zach Arias on guitar, and Andrew Voggessor on bass. They reached the quarterfinals at the 2026 International Blues Challenge, and now they’re bringing that same sound to the Rock Island Bridge every weekend.
Mama Ray’s Legacy Jam: Featuring Lori Tucker - every Saturday afternoon at BB’s Lawnside BBQ

This jam has been happening for 39 years. With the recent passing of Mama Ray, many were worried that the jam might end. But fulfilling her wishes, it continues under the leadership of Lori Tucker. This might be called a blues jam, but that is too limiting for what actually happens here. Per guitarist Jay EuDaly, “The players in the host band are all top-notch. We can go from a 3-chord Blues or Country song to a Charlie Parker tune from one song to the next, and everything in between, and we enjoy it all! We will accommodate whoever is sitting in at the moment.” All ages and experience welcome.
